This exhibit sought to examine community cultural cohesion in the Old Rondo community by using media and education as a primary lens.  Music in Old Rondo, as revealed via the artifacts in this exhibit, functioned not only as a form of entertainment, but also as a venue for community interaction and cultural performance.  In addition, this exhibit highlighted the fact that newspapers of Old Rondo, while certainly capable of relaying narratives, were also a form of informal education articulated across generations of neighborhood residents.  Finally, this exhibit employed forms of formal and informal education as a window into the soul of Old Rondo so as to seek the answers to questions of ownership, scholarship, and opportunity.

While this exhibit did not have all the answers, it did highlight an important conclusion: Every community has a story.  And regardless of whether or not dominant narratives acknowledge or value such stories, it is important that we work to do so through action-oriented public history.
